Black Friday for existing paid users
Most companies do not have Black Friday offers for existing subscribers, and we may not do so in the future. However, this year we are bringing back 2-year plans for existing paid users. If you’re already a paying user, or interested in Proton Mail Professional or Visionary, you can get a 33% discount on any subscription with a 2-year plan. If you get a 2-year plan that has both Proton Mail and Proton VPN, you can get an additional 20% off for a total of nearly 50% off.
To get the promotion, you must first log in to your Proton Mail account(new window). Then you will need to click Settings and navigate to Dashboard. In the drop-down billing cycle menu, you will see the 2-year (33% Off) option.
You can use the 33% discount to upgrade to any paid plan. (This 33% discount is available for Professional and Visionary subscriptions as well.)
With this deal — combined with the bonus inbox storage and extra VPN connections upgrades which existing paid users recently received for free — we’re providing even more value to those who have supported our mission the longest.

Is there a Black Friday offer for Professional or Visionary Plans?
Yes, it is possible to get a 33% discount on Professional and Visionary by subscribing to a 2-year plan. Details can be found in the “Black Friday for existing paid users” section above.
What happens to my existing paid plan?
If you are already a paying Proton Mail or Proton VPN user and you take advantage of this promotion, the new plan you select will replace your existing plan. However, when you go to check out, we will automatically credit you the unused balance of your existing subscription, and this is added as a proration credit(new window). Thus, you don’t lose the money you paid for your existing plan.
Will I keep the discount when my plan runs out? What price will my plan renew at?
At the end of your subscription period (one or two years, depending on the plan you chose), your plan will automatically renew with the following discounts:
- 1-year plan (20% discount)
- 2-year plan (33% discount)
- 2-year plan (Proton Mail + Proton VPN bundle) (47% discount)
How are discounts calculated?
The discount percentages are based on the difference between the monthly discount offer price and the regular monthly price for each plan.
What if I got the Black Friday deal in the past, can I get this deal?
You don’t need to get this deal because you already got the deal. Previous Black Friday offers were for 2-year plans, which will automatically renew with a 33-47% discount depending on which offer you purchased previously.
Can I pay for a Black Friday deal using Bitcoin?
You can pay in Bitcoin to get the Black Friday deal but not from the landing page or from your account dashboard directly. If you have never used our service before, you have to sign up first. Then login at mail.proton.me(new window) and go to Settings -> Dashboard, click on the “Add credits” button, choose Bitcoin as your payment method, and add a sufficient amount for the promotion you’d like to get. After the credits appear in your account, you can then pick the plan you want, check out, and the credits will be automatically applied.
