If you would like to know more about the story behind Proton VPN(new window), you can read our launch blog post here:
We were very excited to have all of you take part in the Proton VPN beta and we have been very busy implementing your suggestions. We look forward to continuing to provide a high quality and secure VPN service for you after the beta.
Tonight, at midnight in Geneva, Switzerland, we will be transitioning the beta Proton VPN to the production Proton VPN. Proton VPN has three plans, Proton VPN Plus (8€/month), Proton VPN Basic (4€/month), and Proton VPN Free (0€/month). All beta testers currently have Proton VPN Plus. Proton Mail Visionary users will retain access to Proton VPN Plus for free.
If you are a Proton Mail Plus user, and you would like to continue using the full version of Proton VPN, you can go to Settings > Dashboard to add either Proton VPN Plus or Proton VPN Basic to your Proton Mail plan. As a Proton Mail Plus user, you are eligible for an additional 20% bundle discount when combining Mail and VPN. Of course, you can continue using the free VPN(new window) too, if you prefer.
If you do nothing, you will be automatically transitioned to Proton VPN Free. You can find full details about Proton VPN plans and pricing(new window):
Note that Proton VPN Basic and Proton VPN Free have access to fewer servers, so after the transition tonight, some servers may stop working for you. If this happens and you are:
- On Windows connecting through the Proton VPN application, your server list will automatically reflect this change after a periodic refresh.
- On Mac/Android/iOS, or if you are connecting with another OpenVPN client, you can get the latest OpenVPN config files by logging into the Proton VPN user dashboard at: https://account.protonvpn.com.
If you have any questions, don’t hesitate to get in touch with us through our support(new window) site.
Keep in mind that if you are a Proton Mail Plus user, you will receive a 20% discount when signing up for a paid Proton VPN plan (discount is shown at checkout). If you would like to support the project, please consider upgrading to a paid Proton VPN plan so that we can continue to grow and improve Proton VPN. Thank you again for your support!
