Proton
Proton Pass deal for Dashlane users

This article was updated on June 17, 2024, to reflect the fact that a limited-time offer discussed in the article has now expired.

This article was updated on June 4, 2024, to reflect further restrictions imposed by Dashlane on its free users and to highlight a new promotion from Proton Pass.

Last year, Dashlane Password Manage announced(yeni pencere) it would impose a 25-password limit on free plans. This essentially made the product useless, as according to Dashlane’s own research(yeni pencere), the average American has about 300 online accounts. Dashlane is now restricting its free plan even further.

From June 6, 2024, if you’re a Free Dashlane plan member with more than 25 saved passwords, your account will be read-only. This means:

  • No autofill for your logins, emails, payment details, or ID cards
  • You can’t copy and paste your Dashlane items
  • You can’t add new items or update existing items
  • You can’t see your Password Health score

However, with Proton Pass, you can keep all your passwords and continue adding unlimited new logins. You can export your Dashlane logins and import them to Proton(yeni pencere) with one click. It’s totally free and always will be.

Switch to a free, unlimited Dashlane alternative

Proton Pass is a free alternative to Dashlane that lets you store unlimited passwords, use unlimited devices, store end-to-end encrypted data, autofill items, and create up to 10 hide-my-email aliases(yeni pencere). Pass also offers password sharing with multiple people and multiple vaults on the free plan. These features make the Proton Pass Free plan the most generous free plan of any password manager.
