Move iPhone photos from iCloud to Proton Drive

Follow these steps to stop backing up your photos with iCloud and switch to Proton Drive for secure storage.

How to enable automatic photo backup with Proton Drive

1. Download(yeni pencere) the Proton Drive for iOS app.

2. Create an account or Sign in with your existing Proton Account username and password.

3. Navigate to the Photos tab and tap Turn on backup.

4. When prompted, select Allow Access to All Photos to grant permission for the app to access your photos and videos.

5. Once you grant permission, the Proton Drive app will back up your photos and videos will be securely backed up on ourcloud. All files will be securely end-to-end encrypted on your device before they’re sent to the cloud. The duration of the process depends on the number of items you’re uploading and the speed of your internet connection. You can track the process via the progress bar for real-time updates.

6. Once the backup is finished, you will see a Backup complete notification.

How to turn off iCloud photo backup on iPhone

1. Go to Settings, then tap your name.

2. Tap iCloud, then tap Storage. (In iOS 17 or earlier, tap Manage Account Storage.)

3. Tap iCloud Photos.

4. Tap Turn Off & Delete Photos. In iOS 17 or earlier, tap Turn Off & Delete from iCloud. Photos and videos stored in iCloud will be deleted 30 days after you stop using the service.

How to move files from iCloud.com to Proton Drive

Use the following steps to download files stored in iCloud Drive or are accessible from iWork apps on iCloud.com(yeni pencere).

1. Sign in to iCloud.com(yeni pencere).

2. Open iCloud Drive.

3. Find and select the file you wish to move.

4. Click the Download icon at the top of the page or double-click the file. The file will be saved in your device’s default Downloads location.

How to add files to Proton Drive

Follow these steps to store and protect files downloaded from iCloud with Proton Drive

1. Sign in or create an account on Proton Drive.

2. Follow the four onboarding steps.

3. Click New followed by Upload folder at the top left corner.
