Lumo can create documents, code, and interactive web pages in a canvas alongside your chat. You can review your creation while discussing changes, compare versions, and download your work or save it to Proton Drive.
Your creations are protected with zero-access encryption, so even Proton can’t read them. Lumo never logs your conversations or uses them to train models.
Creations are available to all Lumo users.
In this article, you’ll learn how to:
- Create a document, code file, or web page
- Edit a creation
- Review earlier versions
- Find your creations in Library
- Download a creation or save it to Proton Drive
- Turn off the canvas
Create a document, code file, or web page
- Open Lumo(새 창) and sign in to your Proton Account.
- Start a conversation and describe what you want to create. You can also upload a file for Lumo to work with.
- Lumo will open the canvas alongside your conversation when it generates a creation.
For example, you can ask:
- “Turn these notes into a project report.”
- “Write a Python script to organize files by file type.”
- “Create an interactive web page for my video game idea.”

Lumo automatically chooses when to use the canvas. Questions and explanations generally stay in chat, while documents, code files, and web pages can open in the canvas.
Edit a creation
You can ask Lumo to revise any creation, or manually edit documents in the canvas.
Ask Lumo to make changes
- With your creation open, describe the changes you want in the conversation.
- Lumo will update the creation and create a new version.
For example, ask Lumo to shorten a report, add a function to your code, or change the layout of a web page.

You can also highlight content in the canvas for a more specific request:
- Documents: Highlight a passage and describe the change, such as “Cut this paragraph in half” or “Make this less formal.”
- Code: Select a section and choose Improve or Explain.
Edit a document yourself
- Open the document in the canvas.
- Click the creation’s title, then select Edit.
- Edit the text directly. Use the formatting controls to adjust its appearance, or switch to Markdown source.
- Select Save to keep your changes and create a new version, or Cancel to discard them.
For code and web pages, ask Lumo to make changes through the conversation.
Review earlier versions
Each revision, whether it was done manually or by Lumo, will create a new version automatically.
Open the creation in the canvas and use the version controls to view an earlier version. You can review, copy, download, or save that version to Proton Drive.
Further edits will take place on the latest version of the creation.
Find your creations in Library
You can find creations across your conversations in one place.
- Open Library.
- Select Creations.
- Select the creation you want to open.
Lumo will take you to the original conversation with the latest version open in the canvas.

Library shows the latest version of each creation. To review earlier versions, use the version controls in the original conversation.
Download a creation or save it to Proton Drive
Open the version you want to keep, then use its download or Save to Drive option.
For documents, you can download a Word, PDF, or HTML file. Lumo converts documents on your device, so it doesn’t need to send their unencrypted content to an additional server for conversion.
Download as HTML
- Open the creation you want to download.
- Choose the HTML download option.
- Save the file to your device.
You can open the downloaded HTML file in a web browser.

Download a document as a PDF
- Open the document and choose the PDF download option.
- In your browser’s print dialog, choose the option to save as a PDF.
- Choose where to save the file on your device.
Save a document as a PDF in Proton Drive
Choose Save to Drive → PDF.
This currently creates an image-based PDF, which means you can’t select or copy its text. If you need selectable text:
- Download the PDF using your browser’s print dialog.
- Upload the downloaded file to Proton Drive.

Turn off the canvas
Lumo uses the canvas automatically for suitable requests. You can turn it off for a conversation from Tools in the chat box, or disable it completely in Settings.
