Lumo can turn spreadsheets, reports, and datasets into charts, graphs, and other visuals directly within your conversation, so you can understand complex information at a glance. Lumo automatically adds a visual when it’s the clearest way to answer your question — for example, when you ask about trends, comparisons, or patterns in your data. This works with both uploaded files (such as CSV and Excel) and text-based queries that Lumo may answer with data, comparisons, or statistics.
Like everything else in Lumo, all custom visuals and uploaded files are completely private so no one else can access them.

How to create custom data visualizations on Lumo
1. Go to lumo.proton.me(uusi ikkuna) or open the Lumo mobile app, and sign in to your Proton Account.
2. Start a chat and ask your question, or upload a file or spreadsheet for Lumo to work with.
3. If a visual is the best way to explain the answer, Lumo will add it in your conversation. You can also directly request Lumo to create a visual, for example: “Turn this analysis into a bar chart” or “Show this statistic as a line chart over time.”

If needed, you can ask Lumo to make edits to the visual, such as changing the chart type or focusing on a specific piece of data. Lumo will automatically update the visual based on your instructions.
How to download custom data visualizations
1. In your Lumo conversation, look for the visual you want to save.
2. Select Download (or the download icon) on the visual.

3. When prompted, save the file to your device.
All done. Your custom data visualization is downloaded and can be added to your presentations, documents, or anything else.
How to turn off custom data visualizations
If you prefer text-only answers, you can disable custom data visualizations in Lumo.
1. Go to lumo.proton.me(uusi ikkuna) or open the Lumo mobile app, and sign in to your Proton Account.
2. Open Settings:
Web: Click the Settings (⚙) icon in the bottom-left corner.
Mobile: Tap the Menu icon (☰), then tap Settings (⚙).

3. Select General from the sidebar. Turn the Visualization mode switch Off.

Lumo will no longer generate charts and other visuals automatically. You can still specifically prompt Lumo to create a chart or graph if you need one.
