Which image and video formats are supported by Proton Drive?

Currently, Proton Drive’s photo backup feature supports all image and video formats.

For photos, this includes JPEG, PNG, SVG, GIF, and TIFF formats, as well as many others. Previews are available in-app (except for live photos and GIFs, which are displayed as static images).

For videos, Proton Drive supports MP4, AVI, MOV, MKV, WMV, and more. Previews are available for all formats (except for slow-motion videos on iOS, which are displayed as standard videos).

Note: Live photos, GIFs, and slow-motion videos will regain their dynamic qualities once downloaded. We intend to make these file formats previewable in future updates.

When backing up files, the app will back up all images and videos in the library of iOS devices. On Android devices, the app will back up media files located in the Camera folder (other folders to be added soon).
