Why Proton Pass was the right fit:

  • A simple, user-friendly UX

  • Minimal setup/onboarding time required

  • End-to-end security is built into every feature

Business data is a valuable commodity. But collecting, managing, and extracting insights from data isn’t simple: unstructured data is hard to manage without the right systems, knowledge, and skills. Novalytica, a leading Swiss Data Science company, offers a wide range of data science products and services that help businesses get the most from their data.

The Novalytica team builds data pipelines and reporting for businesses in many industries including real estate, finance, marketing, gastronomy, manufacturing, and the public sector. Businesses that book into Novalytica’s Data Academy learn the ins-and-outs of data collection and processing, business Intelligence tools, and more.

Secure password sharing for faster work

Andy Gubser, Senior Data Scientist at Novalytica, advocates for businesses looking for a password manager to adopt Proton Pass: “I encouraged my colleagues to introduce Proton, we then discussed it, and then we switched,” he said, “and now we're using Proton Pass mainly for sharing passwords and credentials across project teams.”

One of Novalytica’s key use cases for a password manager is to secure and share the many credentials that Novalytica handles on behalf of its clients.

“We have many logins from our customers, or logins to their machines, and we somehow need a secure way to spread this information, these logins,” he said. “And that's why we need Proton Pass.”

Gubser notes that Proton Pass creates “an easy way to share credentials”, which is essential for the team. They have the option of sharing credentials via secure links — which expire after a chosen amount of time or number of views — or creating shared vaults.

Shared vaults are fully configurable within the business, with users inside and outside Novalytica able to access them with permission from the business admin.

“We create vaults for each customer or for each project, and to share the credentials with each other.” Gubser said. “We can log in with our personal business email and the credentials of the personal business email account.”

Changing password behaviors

As with any business, Novalytica wanted to encourage employees to implement password best practices. Any given employee could have tens or even hundreds of accounts with passwords, creating just as many potential entry points for malicious actors. Novalytica requires employees to use Proton Pass as opposed to writing down or memorizing passwords, which is improving security standards throughout the business.

“The feedback is very, very good for the proton pass in my company.” Gubser said. “Onboarding was straightforward. Everyone is using it, and it works, and we cannot imagine being without Proton Pass anymore.”

With tools including a strong password generator, password autofill, and Identities, employees are working more securely every day with no extra effort: they’re able to work faster, and are no longer reliant on asking their IT helpdesk for password resets.

Protect your business with Proton Pass

With Proton Pass, your organization’s credentials benefit from the same battle-tested end-to-end encryption that has protected Proton Mail for over a decade.

Success with Proton Pass

For Novalytica’s team of 20, a password manager with minimal deployment time, a user-friendly UX, and security built into every feature was essential. Gubser was already familiar with not only Proton Pass, but the whole Proton environment, noting that “my new Google is Proton. I have all of your products, and that means I don't need to have another environment.”

Sharing critical business information is easier and more secure now that the team can use Proton Pass to store and share their credentials.  Since adopting Proton Pass, Gubser said, there has been barely any friction when it comes to adoption: “It works. It works perfectly.”

Proton Pass’s end-to-end encrypted vaults ensure that all the information Novalytica stores is secure. The business can work quickly to build new solutions for clients, without being over encumbered by insecure password management practices or unsafe data sharing. Employees can have access granted and revoked to vaults containing relevant information as and when the business requires, streamlining both onboarding and offboarding.
