The family password manager that makes life easier

Proton Pass is designed to provide enterprise-grade software that’s easy for anyone to use, even if they don’t have experience with technology. You’ll receive an onboarding guide to help you get set up. We can also offer support via our help center and our customer support team for any family member.

Family members can only see each other’s passwords if the passwords are in a shared vault. Their private vaults are accessible only to them.

To invite a family member, you’ll first need to set up an account as an admin. Once you’ve done that, head to the Users section in your Proton account. You’ll see the option to Add user, which lets you create a Proton Pass account and password for a new family member or add an existing Proton Pass user to your family account.

You can add or remove family members from your Pass Family plan at any time. Simply use your admin panel to add up to five users (not including yourself) or remove them if needed.

If you already have a Proton Pass Plus account and you activate a Pass Family plan, all the stored information in your private vaults will move over to your new account. You’ll then have access to an admin panel where you can begin inviting family members to join your plan. You can also create shared vaults to store shared logins with your family members.

If you have a Proton Pass Plus or Proton Pass Free account already, you’ll be able to upgrade to our Family plan. If you’re subscribed to Mail Plus, VPN Plus, Drive Plus, Unlimited, Family, Visionary, Duo, Pass Essentials, Pass Professional, or Business Suite, you won’t be able to sign up for a Family plan.

You can invite anyone with a Pass Plus plan to join your plan. Once they accept an invitation to your Pass Family plan, they’ll be included as a user in your plan and won’t be charged for their personal Pass Plus account anymore.

In the event that you don’t want to continue using your Pass Family plan, you can find the option to Explore other Proton plans on your dashboard. Once you’ve chosen your new plan, all users on your Pass Family account (including you) will be downgraded to Pass Free. Every family member will retain all of the logins they’ve stored in their private vaults. Each family member will receive an email to confirm this.

As the admin, you’re the sole family member with access to billing and payment information. Your plan will renew annually, and only you are responsible for paying for your family’s subscription.
