Sharing your screen in Proton Meet

Lecture
2 minutes

With Proton Meet, hosts and participants can share their screen to securely present slides, documents, or anything else on their device to everyone on the call.

Screen sharing is available on our web, desktop (macOS, Windows, Linux), and iOS apps. At the moment, Android users can only view screens shared by other participants using supported platforms.

Start screen sharing

Only one screen can be shared at a time. When someone starts sharing their screen, it automatically replaces any currently shared screen. Here’s how to start broadcasting:

  1. During a meeting, select the Share screen 🖥️ icon.

  • Window: Share the contents of one of your apps, like your browser app or a document editor. Optionally, you can share system audio.

Only the person currently sharing can stop their own screen. Hosts cannot unshare a participant’s screen for them, but they can remove that participant from the room.

Picture-in-picture mode

While presenting, Proton Meet may suggest entering picture-in-picture mode. This keeps a small meeting window on top of other apps, showing what participants see and helping you stay oriented. On some browsers, such as Mozilla Firefox, you may need to enable it manually.

For example, if you want to read your notes while sharing your screen, you can move a notes window on top of the application you’re sharing.
