Using meeting rooms in Proton Meet

Lecture
2 minutes

Proton Meet offers two types of reusable meeting rooms: personal meeting rooms and regular rooms. Both provide permanent links you can reuse anytime, but they differ in how you control the room. Anyone with the link can join, even if you’re not there.

Personal meeting rooms

Each Proton Meet account includes a personal meeting room — an always-available space tied to your account.

We recommend you only share it with the people you trust. If needed, you can regenerate the link once per day for added privacy.

Here’s how to use your personal meeting room:

  • On web or desktop, go to My rooms. Your Personal meeting room is listed there, with actions available next to it.
View your rooms on the Proton Meet web app or desktop app
  • On mobile, go to My Rooms and tap Personal meeting room.

You’ll see the following options:

  • Copy 📋: Copy and share your link with others to start a quick meeting without scheduling an event. You can share your link with anyone — even if they don’t have a Proton Account.
  • Join or Join meeting: Enter your room immediately.
  • Regenerate link 🔄: Create a new link for your personal meeting room and destroy the old one. You can do this once every 24 hours.

Regular meeting rooms

Regular rooms are reusable meeting spaces you can create and manage on web, desktop, and mobile. Like personal rooms, they have a permanent link, but you can delete them and create new ones as needed.

Here’s how to create a meeting room:

  1. Go to My rooms.
  2. Select Create new room.
Create a new room using the Proton Meet desktop or web app
  1. Enter a room name.
  2. Select Create and copy link.

For each room you can:

  • Join: Enter the room immediately.
  • Copy 📋: Copy and share the room link with others.
  • Edit ✏️: Rename the room.
  • Delete 🗑️: Remove the room permanently.

When to use each type of room

Use a personal meeting room for:

  • Quick, one-off meetings or check-ins
  • Ongoing discussions where participants already have your link
  • Trusted people that you talk to often
  • Spontaneous calls without scheduling

Use regular rooms for:

  • Reusable meeting spaces for specific teams or topics
  • Project-based activities that may change or end
  • Sharing a persistent link without exposing your personal room

For planned meetings when you want to invite participants by email and manage details like time and reminders, use scheduled meetings instead.
