Each account also includes a personal meeting room that’s always available.

Hosting a video call

You can start a meeting in several ways:

  • Start an instant meeting and share the link
  • Schedule a meeting with invites and reminders
  • Use a meeting room for recurring or on-demand calls

Whoever creates the meeting link is the host.

Hosts can mute participants, remove participants, and lock meetings to prevent new participants from joining. Hosts with a paid Proton Meet or Proton Workspace plan can also record meetings.

About Proton Meet security

Proton Meet uses Messaging Layer Security (MLS), an encryption protocol designed for secure group communication like video calls, group chats, and meetings. MLS enables end-to-end encryption for all your chats and calls, ensures that everything in a Proton Meet call is encrypted in a way that only participants can access, even in large groups. Not even Proton can see this data.

What’s the difference between guest, free, and paid Proton Meet plans?

You can join a Proton Meet call as a guest without signing in. Guest hosts can start instant meetings only and support smaller meetings.

Free accounts can host larger meetings, create and use meeting rooms, and use Proton Meet with a signed-in account.

Paid Proton Meet and Proton Workspace plans include longer meetings, higher participant limits, meeting recording, and appointment scheduling through Proton Calendar.

If you’re new to Proton Meet, start by joining a call or creating your first meeting room.
