Apertus 1.5 is one of the open-source AI models available in Lumo, Proton’s privacy-first AI assistant. Developed as an independent European alternative by the researchers at  EPFL, ETH Zurich, and the Swiss National Supercomputing Centre (CSCS), Apertus has an open architecture and is trained on publicly available data, respecting opt-out requests and filtering personal details.

Proton is partnering with the researchers behind Apertus to help improve its model through optional, real-world feedback. If you choose to rate an Apertus response and submit feedback, your contribution is shared with Proton and the research teams behind the model.
