As of March 2019, the Proton Mail Android app no longer supports older versions of Android: 4.0, 4.1, 4.2, and 4.3. If you are still running one of these versions on your Android device, you will still be able to use the Proton Mail app but you won’t receive new updates, features, bug fixes, or security patches.

Enabling Extended Notifications in your Proton Mail app allows you to override the "hide sensitive notification content" setting for Android devices. When enabled, you will see sender and subject information for new Proton Mail notifications, while maintaining the setting for all other notifications on your device.
