How to use the Proton Drive integration in Lumo

Lumo can understand files you upload, helping you summarize or discuss the files you share with it.
Proton Drive is integrated into Lumo, so you can easily add or remove your stored files in Lumo’s working memory for each chat, known as the knowledge base.
Why use knowledge base? In long conversations, Lumo can “forget” information you shared earlier in the conversation. The knowledge base lets you specify information you want Lumo to keep top of mind.
Add Proton Drive files to a chat
- Open the Lumo web app(nieuw venster) or mobile app for Android(nieuw venster) or iOS(nieuw venster).
- Sign in to your Proton Account if you haven’t already.
- Start a chat with Lumo.
- Click + and select Add from Proton Drive.

- All supported Proton Drive files will be loaded. Click ⊕ next to each file you want to add to the knowledge base.

- To upload files to Proton Drive from your local device, click ⬆ and select one or more files. They will be automatically added to the knowledge base.

When having a conversation with Lumo, you can ask it to reference any information from the knowledge base files.

Add Proton Drive files to Projects
You can also add Proton Drive files to Projects and keep important context available across related chats. This is useful when you’re working on a longer task, researching a topic, or managing information that you want Lumo to reference consistently within that project.
Frequently asked questions
Using knowledge base is a way to customize what Lumo sees when generating a request. In longer chats, you can upload many files, some of which become irrelevant as you progress through the conversation. The knowledge base feature allows you to control what information stays top of mind for Lumo.
Lumo works with documents, spreadsheets, code, and PDFs for now. Soon it will be able to analyze other files types, including Proton Docs and pictures.
You can add or remove knowledge base files, depending what’s relevant to your discussion. This helps Lumo work faster and stay focused. If you need more space than the Free plan offers, upgrade to Lumo Plus.
No. Lumo only sees files you submit in a query and deletes them immediately after processing a response.
