How to use the Proton Drive integration in Lumo
Lumo can understand files you upload, helping you summarize or discuss the files you share with it.
Proton Drive is integrated into Lumo, so you can easily add or remove your stored files in Lumo’s working memory for each chat, known as the chat knowledge.
Why use chat knowledge? In long conversations, Lumo can “forget” information you shared earlier in the conversation. The chat knowledge lets you specify information you want Lumo to keep top of mind.
Access Proton Drive files in Lumo
While logged in to your Proton Account, start a chat with Lumo and click on the document icon in the top right corner to access your chat knowledge.

Then click on the Browse Drive button.

Any files you have in Drive will be visible in your My Files library, and you can click the + icon to add them to the chat knowledge.

The file will appear in the chat box, available for you to submit it to Lumo along with your next query.
Frequently asked questions
When should I use the chat knowledge to add files rather than upload files directly to the chat?
Using chat knowledge is a way to customize what Lumo sees when generating a request. In longer chats, you can upload many files, some of which become irrelevant as you progress through the conversation. Using the chat knowledge feature allows you to control what information stays top of mind for Lumo.
Can I add Proton Docs, spreadsheets, or images?
Lumo works with documents, spreadsheets, code, and PDFs for now. Soon it will be able to analyze other files types, including Proton Docs and pictures.
What if I run out of space in my chat knowledge?
You can add or remove chat knowledge files, depending what’s relevant to your discussion. This helps Lumo work faster and stay focused. If you need more space than the Free plan offers, you can upgrade to Lumo Plus.
Does this mean Lumo has access to my files in Proton Drive?
No. Lumo only sees files you submit in a query and deletes them immediately after processing a response.
