Our story
Proton was created in 2014 by scientists who met at CERN (the European Organization for Nuclear Research) and created Proton Mail, the world’s largest end-to-end encrypted email service. We have over 10 years of experience at the cutting edge of encryption and security, delivering free and open-source services to over 100 million people.
Proton Wallet is operated by Proton Financial AG, an independent Swiss subsidiary of Proton AG, whose primary shareholder is the non-profit Proton Foundation. Our core business is privacy and security. We do not speculate in crypto, and we are not a crypto trading firm or exchange.
