Proton Mail with a third-party mail app

We don’t currently integrate Proton Mail with third-party email clients on iOS devices. Third-party email clients for iOS are not capable of the encryption and decryption processes Proton Mail performs to keep your data safe.

Proton Mail in an iOS mobile browser

Most iOS devices can access Proton Mail through an up-to-date mobile browser by visiting account.proton.me. Proton Mail works on most browsers, but you can check our list of recommended and supported browsers for more details.

What’s new in the latest app update

We’ve completely rebuilt the Proton Mail app to give you a faster, smoother, and more reliable experience. Enjoy improved performance across the board, and a refreshed interface which makes it easier to stay on top of your inbox.

You can also read, write, and organize emails without an internet connection: everything syncs automatically once you’re back online. This update is currently being rolled out gradually to all users.

What’s still in the works

The following existing features are not yet available in the latest version:

  • Visible indicator for blocked email trackers
  • Swiping to the next message
  • Automatically jumping to the next message
  • Converting inline to non-inline attachments
  • Creating, editing, and uploading contacts
  • Blocking email senders
  • Dark mode composer
  • Viewing message headers
  • Sending read receipts
  • Saving emails as PDF
  • Accessibility support for screen readers
  • AppKey (iOS) → This feature has been deprecated, as performance improvements relying on background processing aren’t compatible with AppKey’s requirement for constant user interaction.

We also have a dedicated Android app for users with an Android device.
