Unlock more free storage for your new Proton Drive Account

When you create a free Proton account, you can unlock an extra 3 GB of Drive storage by completing our welcome actions checklist in your first 30 days.
The checklist is made of three easy tasks which help you discover your new cloud storage and its privacy features.
Once you complete the checklist, we’ll upgrade your storage from 2 GB to 5 GB.

Who is eligible?
All free Proton Drive accounts are eligible for the 3 GB upgrade, as long as you complete the checklist within 30 days of creating your account.
Paid Proton Drive plans are not eligible for this offer, but we have a separate storage bonus program for paid subscribers.
How to get the welcome bonus
1. Add a file or a folder
These instructions are for Proton Drive for web, but you can complete this step in any Proton Drive app.
- Sign in to account.proton.me/drive.
- In the My files page, you can either:
- click + New, then select Upload file or Upload folder. Select your items and click Open.
- Drag and drop your items directly into My files.

2. Create a shareable link
These instructions are for Proton Drive for web, but you can complete this step in any Proton Drive app.
- Sign in to account.proton.me/drive.
- In the My files page, check the file you want to share and click the Share (👤) icon.
- Turn the Public link toggle on.
That’s it. You can send the link to someone if you like, but it’s not a requirement for this task.

3. Protect your account with a recovery method
To secure your account against password loss, it’s important to set up multiple account recovery options when you create your account. Learn how account recovery works
- Sign in to account.proton.me/drive and open your account settings.
- Select Recovery from the sidebar.
- Scroll to Account recovery and add at least one account recovery method and one data recovery method. Learn more about Proton’s recovery options
Once you’ve successfully completed these steps, you’ll receive an email confirming your increased storage.
Troubleshooting
Can’t see the welcome checklist
First, double check that you:
- Created your account less than 30 days ago: this is an exclusive offer for new accounts.
- Have a free account: this offer is only available with Proton Free.
- Haven’t already completed the checklist: if you have, your storage allowance will already be 5 GB.
If you just created your account, you might not see the checklist immediately. This could be due to another offer being shown first.
However, you can still get started on the tasks — the offer is active.
