Congratulations on joining the Proton community! You can now send private emails to friends and family and store important attachments and files securely. 

To help you do more with Proton Mail(new window), we’re introducing four quick actions to help you discover your new inbox:

Once you’ve completed all actions, we’ll upgrade your storage space to 1 GB, allowing you to keep even more emails in your inbox. 

Which account types are eligible?

At this time, only Free Proton Mail accounts are eligible for a storage upgrade. If you are new to Proton Mail, you’ll be able to access the actions directly from your inbox.

If you are a paid user, your account already comes with increased storage space. You also get access to exclusive yearly storage bonuses.

How long do I have to complete the actions?

You have 30 days after the actions appear in your inbox to complete them and receive the storage increase.

How do I track my progress?

You can track your progress on our web app. Log in to your account(new window) and select the gift icon displayed at the bottom left of your inbox.

How do I complete the actions?

You have to complete all four actions to receive your storage upgrade. Once an action is completed, a checkmark will appear next to it. After you complete all the actions, you’ll receive an email confirming your extra storage, increasing your total inbox storage to 1 GB.

To complete this action, you must import contacts or emails through one of the following methods:

Send at least one email using your Proton Mail address.

3. Try our mobile app

Download Proton Mail on your mobile device and log in to your account.

4. Protect your account with a recovery method

Activate a recovery method in your account settings to protect your account. You can enter a secondary email address or your phone number. 

If you need extra storage, you can upgrade(new window) to a paid plan to unlock premium features, such as custom email addresses, folders and contact groups, priority support, access to Proton Drive(new window), and more. 

As a thank you, you’ll also receive access to free and exclusive annual storage bonuses(new window).

FAQ

I’m an existing user with a Free plan. Can I benefit from this?

Yes, you have 30 days after the introduction of this offer in your inbox to complete all actions. You may be required to complete a few actions again, even if you’ve completed them in the past.

I’m a new or existing user with a paid plan. Can I benefit from this?

The get started actions are only available to users on the Free plan. As a paid user, your account already comes with more storage space. You also get access to free, exclusive annual storage bonuses.

How do I track my progress?

You can track your progress on our web app(new window). Click on the gift icon displayed next to your storage space located at the bottom left of your inbox.
If you can’t find it, make sure:
– You haven’t already completed all actions — check if your storage space is 500 MB and not 1 GB.
– You are a Free user.
– The offer hasn’t expired. (You have 30 days to complete it after its introduction.)

I’ve completed an action, but it’s still appearing as unchecked. Why?

All completed actions are checked off automatically. Please refer to the above section “How do I complete the actions” and verify that you’ve completed the action correctly. If you’re still having trouble, contact our support team(new window) for help.

I’ve completed all the actions. How do I know if I’ve received the extra storage?

After completing all actions, you should receive an email confirming your extra storage. Your storage space should now read 1 GB instead of 500 MB. If you haven’t received the completion email, please ensure you’ve completed all actions.

If I upgrade my plan, will I keep my extra storage?

The extra storage only applies to Free accounts and is not transferred to paid plans. If you are on a paid plan, you have access to exclusive annual storage bonuses(new window).
