Proton Drive is an excellent option for privacy-focused cloud storage. Its end-to-end encryption, clean interface, and robust security controls make it both trustworthy and easy to use. The photo backup functionality is particularly strong, with album support standing out—especially the ability to share albums seamlessly with other Proton users. As an added benefit, it is a European product.

This is awesome, cancelling my Dropbox asap. Dropbox was trying to charge multiple people for access to the same storage space! Proton drive is also faster and a much more fluid, intuitive program. Thanks!

I've switched to Proton and I like it more than I expected!

Of course, it started with Gmail and Proton's wizard helps with that. Within 15 minutes I had transferred the last 3 months of Gmail, turned on forwarding from Gmail to Proton and the G-Calendar was on Proton Calendar and synced.

The next day, I started migrating my most important documents and spreadsheets to Proton Drive and that went like a charm too!

Today, very exciting, I switched my password manager from Google to Proton Pass and yes, that also went without any problems!!

Finally, because I love Proton and understand very well that it costs money to maintain Proton without ads, I bought a subscription.

Best thing I've done in software in years 😄 💪 ❤️

I need cloud storage for emergency access to copies of certain documents, such as ID cards. For this purpose, data security is paramount. And Proton offers me this security with Drive. Zero-knowledge encryption, meaning it's secure even against the provider or hackers. Two-factor authentication (2FA) is optional, for example, via FIDO or TOTP, and can be set up on multiple devices.

If you're looking for a no fuss simple cloud storage then this is it, yes you only get a very limited storage at first, however if you follow some steps on the web app you can get 5gb of storage, which with all of my pictures and files I still didn't fill up, you can make short term self terminating links to whichever folder you want and anyone can upload or download from them, it's great if you have important files/pictures you also want to share with others

It's the only cloud storage I'd gladly play for, because of its end-to-end encryption for your files. The peace of mind you get from knowing your files won't be scanned is unmatched by even the most popular cloud services like Terabox, OneDrive, Google Drive, Google Photos, etc.

I’ve had a long-standing ambition to reduce my reliance on large U.S. tech companies, partly for privacy reasons—without (overly) compromising on functionality. Over the past few months, I’ve gradually stepped away from or limited my use of major services such as Facebook, Dropbox, Google, and others, while fully transitioning to the Proton suite as my primary digital platform. Proton is based in Switzerland and operated by a non-profit foundation. Its core focus is security and privacy, with all your data stored in encrypted form.

I started with email, which takes a bit of time when you manage multiple addresses across both personal and professional contexts. After about a month, everything is now running smoothly. An really good VPN-client is included as well.

I moved everything (almost) to Proton. Here's what it taught me. 🔒

This weekend I moved my emails, files (drive), passwords and Authenticator to Proton. Encrypted. Private. Stays in the EU. No one to scan my content. They block trackers. And then I have autonomy over my own data. 🚫

It took time (a long time). But it forced me to think about (again) something most private individuals and companies skip over or don't have the energy or choose not to think about:

Who has access to your data — and do you actually know it? How much data is there really? And who has it?

I've long been quite aware of what I upload in different places and what information I provide, but I'm still surprised every time I clean up a little more. 😅

Privacy first! This can do everything what Google Drive or OneDrive can. It's just doing it without watching your photos! The Proton ecosystem is getting really impressive!

I am continually proud to be a Proton supporter, and am excited for further additions to the Proton ecosystem. Drive provides seamless backup between my devices, and has a clean and attractive interface, which is intuitive to navigate. Thank you, Proton, keep up the good works.

So far I'm really loving this. I can delete stuff from the cloud or phone independently unlike Google which deletes stuff off my phone if I remove it from the cloud. so far no "Gotchas". in fact they just expanded my storage on my existing plan that just started. normally this happens close to renewal or after you leave. Companies like this are rare these days.

I recently did testing to find the best cloud storage for me. I put Proton up against ALL the big ones, and Proton came out on top! Other companies have better advertising / paid youtubers, but Proton delivers! Zero knowledge, no data shared, fast upload of larger files (slower when in bulk, encryption is part of that), upload and create folders from explorer, HEIC and GIF files (shows transparency), built-in player...

Proton Drive is a really stable app and a better alternative to Microsoft OneDrive and Google Drive / Workspace. I have been using this app for a couple of days and I'm very impressed.

Just like any cloud. But it's yours. Not yours and the Big Tech corps selling you via the contents of your files. Awesome app, always improving. Props to the devs and teams.

My AI actually suggested Proton as an alternative to Google who I don't feel comfortable with because their politics in mishandling user data. Thank to Proton Drive and their associated services, I feel much safer online. I use them for my book and research projects, and I know that they are safe in Proton because of the encryption features.

I use Proton for my email, calendar, drive, and VPN. The platform is end-to-end and zero-access encrypted. Unlike mainstream platforms that build advertising profiles from user activity, Proton keeps mine private. It's affordable, robust, sleek, and constantly improving. I like that they're building out an ecosystem of productivity tools, so it feels like I'm getting in early on something that will continue improving.
