Add a Proton Mail address to an existing account
- Go to mail.proton.me(new window) and sign in with your current (non-Proton) email address and password.
- Create your Proton address:
- Proton will suggest an address based on your existing email address. To use this address, click Claim it.

- Alternatively, click Create your own and enter your desired username.

3. We’ll send a verification code to your existing (non-Proton) email address. Check your email and enter the code.

Your Proton Mail address is created.
- You now have access to Proton Mail and Proton Calendar.
- Both your new (Proton) and original (non-Proton) email addresses can be used to sign in to Proton.
- To view and manage your addresses, open your account settings and go to Identity and addresses.
Connect your new address to a custom domain
If you have your own domain, you can connect it to your Proton Mail account. This allows you to send and receive messages from username@yourdomain.com, and create additional addresses under yourdomain.com.
To get started, you’ll need:
- A custom domain: You can purchase one from a domain name registrar.
- A paid Proton Mail plan: All paid plans support custom domains.
How to set up your custom domain
- Upgrade to a paid Proton Mail plan (if you haven’t already)
- Connect and verify your domain
- Configure your DNS records
DNS changes can take up to 24 hours to take effect. Once they do, you’ll be able to start sending and receiving emails using your custom domain address in Proton Mail.
