Can I subscribe to Proton on my mobile device?

Yes. However, we highly recommend subscribing through proton.me instead. If you’re an iOS user, we may apply a surcharge to cover Apple’s in-app fees. Your subscription’s terms and conditions may also differ when purchasing a plan through the App Store or Play Store.

Can I switch to a new plan at any time?

Yes, you can switch to a new plan at any time. If you’re upgrading, we will apply prorated credit toward your new plan. If you’re downgrading, your account needs to match what’s included in the new plan. This may mean deactivating some email addresses and calendars or reducing your storage usage.

What happens if I reach my plan’s storage limit?

You won't be able to send or receive emails, add events, upload files, or perform actions that require storage space. You can free up space by deleting unwanted files, attachments, and emails. Alternatively, you can upgrade to a plan that offers more storage.

Does my subscription renew automatically?

Yes, your subscription renews automatically if it was purchased through proton.me. You can see your subscription’s renewal date in your account dashboard.

How do I cancel my subscription?

Canceling your subscription is easy. Simply go to your account dashboard and select Downgrade. If you are downgrading to the Free plan, your account must match what’s included in the Free plan. This may mean deactivating some email addresses and calendars or reducing your storage usage.

What happens to my data if I cancel or downgrade my subscription?

When you downgrade your subscription, you won’t lose access to data stored in your Proton account. However, before you can downgrade, you will be asked to remove data that exceeds the storage limits of your chosen plan. You can do this by sorting your emails and files by size and removing large files you no longer need.
