Password managers

Using a password manager is the best way to ensure each of your accounts is secured with a unique and strong password.

If you use a password manager, you have likely used it to store your login credentials for Proton Mail, using our old protonmail.com domain name. The move to our new proton.me domain means that your password manager will not automatically recognize and autofill your login details when you visit our new website.

You can easily fix this in all password managers. In this article, we show you how to do this with several popular password managers.

For stand-alone password managers, we assume you are using its relevant browser add-on that allows autofill within your browser.

Bitwarden

1. Visit any Proton.me login page (for example, mail.proton.me(new window)).

2. Click on the Bitwarden browser extension (if you use a Chrome-based browser, this may be hidden inside the Extensions dropdown menu on your taskbar).

Open Bitwarden

3. Search for your Proton account details and click on the View button when the entry appears.
