You can share files and folders from Proton Drive with anyone using secure shareable links. These links are generated locally in your browser, so Proton never has access to your files or folders.

In this article, we explain how to protect an existing shareable link with a password and/or an expiration date.
Add password protection and an expiration date to a Proton Drive sharing link
Web app
1. Sign in to proton.me/drive.
2. In My files, select the file or folder you want to add a password to. Click Manage share (the icon showing two people).

3. Click Set password or expiration date.

4. Configure your password and/or expiration date.

- To add a password: Enable the Require password toggle, create a strong password(nytt vindu), then click Save changes.
- To add an expiration date: Enable the Set expiration date toggle, enter an expiration date, then click Save changes.
Anyone who receives the link can click on it to access the shared files by entering the password. Make sure you send the password to the person you’re sharing the files with using a secure communication channel or just tell them in person.
Mobile
The screenshots below are from an iPhone, but the steps are identical for iPadOS and Android.
1. Tap … next to the file or folder, and select Share.

2. Select Link settings.

3. Toggle on Require password and enter a password.

4. If you want the link to stop working after a specific date, enable Set expiration date and choose a desired date. Tap Save when you’re done.

Anyone who wants to access your file or folder will need both the link and the password.
