How to manage Proton Drive files and folders on mobile apps

Proton Drive mobile apps let you conveniently store, share, and manage files and folders from your iPhone/iPad or Android phone or tablet.

This article explains how to create folders and how to delete, rename, and move files and folders.

iOS

Create a folder

1. Open the Proton Drive app. Tap + (plus icon) and select Create folder from the menu.

2. Add a name for your folder and tap Done.

Your folder is created.

To create a subfolder, open your new folder, tap + (plus icon) again, and select Create folder.

Move a file (or folder) into a folder

1. Open the Proton Drive app and find the file or folder you want to move.

2. Tap the vertical ellipsis (three dots ⋮). Select Move to… from the menu.

3. Select your destination folder.

4. Tap Move here to confirm.

Your file has been moved.

Rename a file or folder

1. Open the Proton Drive app and find the folder you want to rename.

2. Tap the vertical ellipsis (three dots ⋮) and select Rename… from the menu.

3. Enter a new name and then tap Done.

Delete a file or folder

1. Open the Proton Drive app and find the file or folder you want to delete.

2. Tap the vertical ellipsis (three dots ⋮) and select Move to trash from the menu.

3. Tap Remove folder to confirm.

The item is now in your trash folder. To delete it permanently:

4. Open the sidebar (tap ☰) and select Trash from the menu.

5. Find the item you want to delete and tap the vertical ellipsis (three dots ⋮). Select Delete.

6. This will permanently delete the item from Proton Drive. It cannot be restored. If you’re sure you want to continue, tap Delete folder.

All done. Your file is permanently deleted.

Android

Create a folder

1. Tap + (plus icon) and select Create folder from the menu.
2. Enter your folder name and tap Create.

Your folder is created.

To create a subfolder, open your new folder, tap + (plus icon) again, and select Create folder.

Move an item into a folder

1. Tap the vertical three dots (⋮) next to the file or folder you want to move.
2. Select Move from the menu.

3. Select your destination folder.

4. Tap Move to confirm.

Rename a file or folder

1. Tap the vertical three dots ( ⋮) next to the file or folder you want to rename.
2. Select Rename from the menu.
3. Enter a new name, then tap Rename.

Delete a file or folder

1. Tap the vertical three dots ( ⋮) next to the item you want to delete.
2. Select Move to trash from the menu.

The item is now in your trash folder. To delete it permanently:
