Proton Referral Program Terms

The Proton Referral Program (the “Referral Program”) rewards both existing Proton users who refer new users (“Referrers”) and the newly joined users (“Referees”). Rewards are issued as credit, which can be applied toward any eligible Proton paid plan, except where expressly excluded.

Who is eligible to the Referral Program?

To qualify as a Referrer, you must be an existing Proton individual user with an active subscription to a Proton paid plan in good standing (i.e., the account is not suspended, delinquent, or otherwise restricted). To qualify as a Referee, you must be an individual who subscribes to any paid plan using a unique referral link or code supplied by a Referrer. The Referee must not have previously held a Proton account. All participants must agree and comply with Proton’s overall Terms of Service and Privacy Policy, which complement the present Referral Program Terms. Employees, contractors, affiliates, admins of Proton Business plans, and their immediate family members are expressly excluded from participation to the Referral Program.

What is the reward for a successful referral?

As a Referrer or a as Referee, you will receive $20 in Proton credits for successful referral (the “Referral Reward”). As a Referee, you will also receive a free 2-week trial on your subscription.

A single Referrer may earn up to $1,000 in Proton credits across all referrals. Once the cap is reached, the referral link is automatically disabled and no further rewards may be issued. Proton credits awarded through the Referral Program are non-refundable and cannot be exchanged for cash.

How do I refer a friend (and receive a Referral Reward)?

To refer a friend, you must obtain a unique referral link from the Referral Dashboard inside your Proton account settings. The link must be used by the Referee to subscribe to an eligible Proton paid plan. Currently, all Proton paid plans for individuals are eligible to the Referral Program.

A successful referral happens when your Referee subscribes to an eligible Proton paid plan using your referral link and doesn’t cancel this subscription in application with our refund policy. Referral Rewards are credited (on the Referrer and on the Referee account) 30 days after the beginning of the Referee’s first successful paid billing cycle.

Proton reserves the right to refuse the grant of Referral Rewards or any other benefit under the Referral Program, revoke previous Referral Rewards or benefit, or exclude of the Referral Program of any user abusing or suspected to abuse the Referral Program (e.g., self-referrals, use multiple accounts, chargeback abuse).

Proton may amend, modify, or update the Referral Program Terms at any time, without prior notice, and any such modifications shall become effective immediately upon publication. It is your responsibility to review these Referral Program Terms periodically to remain informed of any updates.
