Windows

If you are using Windows, there are several ways to take a screenshot:

Press the Print Screen button (sometimes labeled as PrtScn). Your screenshot will now be saved to your clipboard. You will need to open an image editor (such as Microsoft Paint), paste the screenshot in the editor, and save the image.

Windows key + Print Screen

To capture your screen and automatically save your screenshot, press the Windows key and Print Screen button simultaneously. Your screenshot will be saved under Pictures → Screenshots.

Snipping Tool

The snipping tool allows you to select and capture an area of your screen. To open the Snipping Tool, press Start, type Snipping Tool in the search bar, and hit Enter. You can choose between different crop options, such as rectangle, free-form, and full-screen snip.

Alt + Print Screen

To take a quick screenshot of your active window, press Alt + Print Screen. The screenshot is now saved to your clipboard. You will need to paste the screenshot in an image editor, such as Microsoft Paint before saving it.

macOS

If you are using a device running on macOS, all screenshots are automatically saved to your desktop.

To take a screenshot of your entire screen, press Shift + Command (⌘) + 3.

To take a screenshot of a portion of your screen, press Shift + Command (⌘) + 4. Your cursor will now be turned into a crosshair. Click and drag the crosshair across your screen to take a screenshot. Holding down the Shift, Option or Spacebar button while dragging will change how your selection moves. Pressing the Esc button cancels the screenshot.

To take a screenshot of a window, press Shift + Command (⌘) + 4 and hit the Spacebar. Your cursor is now turned into a camera. Click on the window to capture the screenshot. To cancel the screenshot, press the Esc button.
